PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The crude palm oil (CPO) price at PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom was set at IDR13,100/kg on Thursday (May 8, 2025), reflecting a decline of 0.23% or IDR30/kg from the previous day’s price of IDR13,130/kg.

According to data received by Palmoilmagazine.com from KPBN, CPO Franco Belawan and Dumai was priced at IDR13,100/kg, while CPO Franco Teluk Bayur opened at IDR12,970/kg, but was withdrawn (WD) as the highest bid reached only IDR12,688/kg.

Meanwhile, as reported by Reuters, Malaysian palm oil futures fell for the eighth consecutive session, reaching their lowest level since September. However, strong buying activity and short-covering from Indian traders helped limit the early losses.

The benchmark July 2025 CPO futures contract on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell by RM1/ton (approximately 0.03%) to RM3,727 (US$874.27)/metric ton by the mid-day break.

Anilkumar Bagani, Head of Research at Mumbai-based vegetable oil brokerage Sunvin Group, noted that although futures opened lower, prices quickly rebounded due to active buying and short-covering from Indian markets following the recent steep declines.

In related markets, soybean oil futures on China’s Dalian Exchange dropped 0.13%, while palm oil futures fell 0.63%. In contrast, soybean oil on the Chicago Board of Trade edged up 0.49%.
