Malaysia CPO futures advanced across all traded contracts, supported by expectations of a temporary export-duty exemption, while trading volume more than doubled and the KPBN Inacom CPO price rose 1.54%.
PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Crude palm oil (CPO) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher across the board on Thursday (Oct. 8, 2026), with the March 2027 contract reaching RM4,925 per tonne, as market sentiment was supported by expectations that Malaysia could propose a temporary exemption from CPO export duties under its 2027 Budget.
According to Bernama, the October and November 2026 contracts each gained RM138, closing at RM4,448 and RM4,551 per tonne, respectively.

The December 2026 contract rose RM137 to RM4,661 per tonne, while January 2027 gained RM131 to RM4,767 per tonne.
Further along the futures curve, the February 2027 contract increased RM115 to RM4,854 per tonne, while the March 2027 contract advanced RM91 to RM4,925 per tonne.
CPO Trading Volume More Than Doubles
The gains came amid a sharp increase in trading activity. CPO futures volume rose to 160,977 lots, more than double the 70,612 lots recorded on Wednesday (Oct. 7).
Open interest also increased, reaching 333,864 contracts, up from 328,944 contracts in the previous session.

In the physical market, the October CPO price for Southern Malaysia increased RM110 to RM4,460 per tonne.
KPBN Inacom CPO Price Rises 1.54%
In Indonesia, the CPO price set by PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom also strengthened on Thursday.
The KPBN Inacom CPO price rose IDR 225/kg, or 1.54%, to IDR 14,850/kg, from IDR 14,625/kg on Wednesday.

The increase in the domestic reference price coincided with the broader gains in Bursa Malaysia CPO futures.
Market direction in the coming sessions is likely to remain sensitive to developments in Malaysia’s export policy, trading activity and shifts in global palm oil supply and demand.
