PALMOILMAGAZINE, MALANG – Efforts to strengthen the connection between higher education and the needs of Indonesia’s palm oil industry took a significant step forward with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Palm Oil Center of Excellence (CoE) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) and PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro.
The agreement, signed at UMM’s BAU Hall on May 29, 2026, reflects a shared commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting the future growth and competitiveness of Indonesia’s palm oil sector.
As one of the world’s leading palm oil producers, Indonesia faces increasing demand for professionals who not only possess strong academic knowledge but are also equipped to adapt to technological advancements and the evolving needs of modern plantation businesses.

The signing ceremony was accompanied by a guest lecture titled “Level Up Your Career: Employment Opportunities and the Future of the Palm Oil Industry,” attended by students from UMM’s Agrotechnology and Industrial Engineering programs.
Under the partnership, UMM and Bumitama will collaborate on a range of initiatives, including internship opportunities, graduate recruitment pathways, and curriculum alignment to ensure academic programs remain relevant to industry requirements.
UMM Vice Rector IV, M. Salis Yuniardi, said the collaboration demonstrates the university’s commitment to producing graduates with strong professional competitiveness.

“This partnership reflects UMM’s commitment to bringing students closer to the professional world.
