PALMOILMAGAZINE, MAMUJU – On Thursday (11/07/2024), the Plantation Agency of West Sulawesi Province held a meeting at Hotel Berkah on Jalan Soekarno in Mamuju to set the ‘P’ index and fresh fruit bunch (FFB) prices for July 2024.
The goal of the meeting was to establish a fair FFB price for planters. The FFB Team reviewed the ‘P’ index provided by plantation companies, in accordance with Regulation of Minister of Agriculture Number 01/Permentan/KB. 120/1/2018, to prevent unfair competition among plantation companies.
Secretary of the West Sulawesi Plantation Agency, Andi Sitti Kamalia, emphasized that the ‘P’ index is essential for determining accurate and competitive FFB pricing, which will enhance the welfare of planters in West Sulawesi.
The FFB Team came to a conclusion that FFB price in West Sulawesi for 10-20 year old FFB in July 2024 would be Rp. 2.547,40/kg, got escalated from June 2024 that was Rp. 2.501,67/kg. “It increases Rp. 45,73,” Sitti Kamalia said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from the official page of West Sulawesi, Friday (12/7/2024).
Head of Plantation Agency West Sulawesi Province, Herdin Ismail did appreciate the cooperation and participation from many parties in the meeting. “Today’s meeting would be the fastest one that we conducted to decide ‘P’ index and FFB price in West Sulawesi. We would work with our commitment to make every decision right and fair for the smallholders,” he said.
Herdin emphasized the fast meeting would reflect the focus of the agency to escalate the smallholders/planters’ welfare in the province. It could also create price stability, reinforce plantation sectors, and increase the welfare and sustainability in a whole. (P2)
