PALMOILMAGAZINE, MOSCOW – Indonesia remains optimistic about expediting the finalization of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA).
During his working visit to Moscow, Russian Federation, on Monday (10/6), Indonesian Coordinator Minister of Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, held a productive meeting with the Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Andrey Slepnev, at the EEC office.
Both parties expressed appreciation for their respective efforts to advance the conclusion of the I-EAEU FTA. The negotiations, which entered the fourth round in Armenia on March 18-20, 2024, are anticipated to be concluded during the fifth round scheduled to be held in Indonesia in July 2024.

“The Government of Indonesia thought, there would be more comprehensive economic cooperation with EAEU. I believe that FTA would positively deliver impacts for both parties,” Airlangga said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Monday (10/6/2024).
In the occastion, he also asked for Russia to help encourage the other members of EAEU to be in synergy to reach out the same goals both to accelerate the completion of I-EAEU FTA and about palm oil promotion from Indonesia.
EAEU in one big palm oil importer from Indonesia with the export values that reached US$ 544,64 million in 2023. Minister Airlangga hoped Russia and other EAEU members would help promote sustainable palm oil from Indonesia and do positive campaigns about it.
He believed palm oil from Indonesia that was exported to the partner countries has qualified health and sustainability standards and aspects. It is hoped EAEU would not implement discriminatory policy. Indonesia is open to get comprehensive discussion to get solution on every raising issue in palm oil export import sectors. (T2)
