Congo Vice Presidential Candidate Donates GHC 50,000 to Palm Oil Mill Fire Victims

PALMOILMAGAZINE, GHANA – On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice Presidential candidate from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Congo, donated GHC 50,000 (equivalent to Rp 53.5 million) to support women affected by a fire that occurred in April at a palm oil mill in New Tafo, North Abuakwa. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang presented the donation on behalf of NDC Flagbearer Mr. John Mahama.

The fire resulted in the destruction of thousands of gallons of palm oil and the mill itself, impacting approximately 100 producers and female workers employed at the mill.

As Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from modernghana.com, during her visit to Abuakwa Utara in the eastern of the area on Wednesday, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang did visit and have empathy for the female that was hit by the fire. She encouraged them to re-construct their lives back.

The donation would be used as the fund to re-construct the mill. She hoped the donation would help relieve their misery that got the impacts.

Miss Elizabeth Amponsah, the leader of palm oil mill appreciated Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for the support. She assumed, the fire in the mill might had something to do with the latest power outage and NDC, even though it is the opposite, supported them for the incident. (T2)
