PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Representing the Minister of Agriculture, Ardi Praptono, Director of Palm Oil and Various Palms at the Directorate General of Plantations, officially opened Palmex Indonesia, the country’s largest palm oil technology exhibition, held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
Amid the buzz of hundreds of industry stakeholders, the event’s opening highlighted a strong spirit of collaboration and the urgency of digital transformation. In his remarks, Ardi expressed his appreciation for the event as a platform that brings together innovation, technology, and networking among key players in the palm oil sector.
“Palmex has become a vital forum that drives the transformation of the national palm oil industry. The theme ‘Palm Oil 4.0 – Digital for Sustainability’ is highly relevant to the challenges we face ahead,” Ardi said at the opening on Wednesday (May 14, 2025), as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com.

According to Ardi, the palm oil industry is at a critical juncture where transformation is no longer optional but necessary. Climate change, prolonged dry seasons, and low adoption of quality seeds and modern technology are significant challenges, especially for smallholder farmers.
“Farmer productivity is still hindered by several factors, one being the limited use of high-yield seeds and digital technologies. Therefore, leveraging technology is key to boosting productivity toward the 2045 national targets,” he added.
He also emphasized that this event serves as a stage to promote the broader vision of the Indonesian president—agricultural digitalization and the advancement of Industry 4.0. This initiative is not just about improving output but also about providing farmers with better access to information, training, and markets.
“Digitalization will be crucial in enhancing economic value, creating new jobs, and improving farmer welfare. It is part of the government’s broader effort to revitalize the national palm oil industry,” Ardi explained.
