PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – “The development of palm oil plantations necessitates research, particularly in breeding to obtain superior seeds. This parallels the growth of downstream industries on a national scale. Over the past decade, exports of palm oil derivative products have surged, increasing from 20% in 2010 to a remarkable 80% in 2020.
The country’s palm oil sector has successfully generated 168 downstream products catering to diverse needs, including food, phyto-pharmaceuticals/nutrients, chemical/oleochemical materials, and fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) biodiesel. This marks a substantial increase from the 54 downstream products produced on a national scale in 2011.
It is clear that research is the main capital to confirm palm oil industrial roots because these industries significantly contribute to revenue that reach up to US$ 50 billion in 2022.
