PALMOILMAGAZINE, KUALA LUMPUR — The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) continues to strengthen its organizational governance with the establishment of an Executive Committee, aimed at improving operational efficiency and expanding support for members and stakeholders worldwide.
According to Jose Roberto Montenegro, Co-Chair of the RSPO Board of Governors and President of Foresta Foods Corporation, the initiative reflects RSPO’s commitment to continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
“As a global organization, it is essential for us to reflect and evaluate which areas of our operational system can be strengthened,” Montenegro stated, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from RSPO on Monday (November 3, 2025). “Through the establishment of this executive committee, we bring together the expertise needed to guide RSPO’s key areas, including finance, digital transformation, and technological operations.”

Montenegro emphasized that the new committee would deliver direct benefits to RSPO members and stakeholders, particularly by ensuring the organization remains effective amid its expanding global reach. “We anticipate greater operational efficiency and effectiveness by adopting a forward-looking governance model,” he added.
This strategic move is also designed to strengthen RSPO’s support for oil palm farmers and upstream industry players—particularly by simplifying certification processes, expanding market access, and promoting inclusion within the sustainable palm oil supply chain.
“For smallholders, improved operations and governance will help them gain more support to achieve certification and actively participate in sustainable supply chains,” Montenegro explained.

The move highlights RSPO’s focus not only on certification and sustainability standards but also on strengthening institutional foundations to adapt to emerging challenges in the global palm oil sector. (P2)
