Fitriyansyah emphasized the importance of formulating the RAD KSB in the regency. “This represents both an opportunity and a challenge to ensure that palm oil plantations do not degrade our environmental quality but meet the needs of our region, country, and the world. Palm oil products should be a source of hope and a promising future for our smallholders and our region,” he said, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from the official page of the Regency of Bengkulu Utara on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

He also noted that the Regency of Bengkulu Utara is set to become the second-largest palm oil contributor in Bengkulu Province. Therefore, it is crucial to have well-crafted plans and accurate data to categorize palm oil plantation areas within the regency.

“It is hoped that the plan will be sustainable. The region has already undertaken several initiatives to create synergy with the environment and educate many smallholders on how to market their products,” he said.

Head of Plantation Agency, Desman Siboro, said that the meeting would be the commitment of Regency of Bengkulu Utara to implement President’s Instruction Number 6 / 2019 about Rencana Aksi Nasional Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan (RAN-KSB). Every document would be significant to get palm oil plantation governance in Indonesia, specifically in the Regency of Bengkulu Utara.

“The action plans would be internalized to national scale—development plans about as regulated in the President’s Regulation Number 18 / 2020 about Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional (RPJMN) 2020–2024, with the targets RAD-KSB until 2024,” Siboro said.

This showed the commitment of Regency of Bengkulu Utara to escalate quality and sustainability in palm oil sectors for the smallholders’ welfare and environmental conservation. (P2)
