North Sumatra FFB Prices Climb to IDR 3,720/kg as Palm Oil Market Remains Firm

PALMOILMAGAZINE, MEDAN – Fresh fruit bunch (FFB) prices for oil palm growers in North Sumatra increased significantly for the June 10–16, 2026 pricing period, providing a boost to smallholders across one of Indonesia’s largest palm oil-producing regions.

According to the North Sumatra FFB Pricing Team, the benchmark price for oil palm trees aged 10–20 years—the most productive category—was set at IDR 3,720.09 per kilogram, up IDR 268.96 per kilogram from the previous period.

The increase reflects the continued strength of the palm oil market, supported by relatively firm crude palm oil (CPO) prices both domestically and internationally.

For the latest pricing period, the North Sumatra Plantation and Livestock Agency set the reference CPO price at IDR 15,017.56 per kilogram, while the palm kernel price reached IDR 12,365.29 per kilogram. The K index, a key component used in calculating FFB prices, was established at 93.03%.

Data compiled by Palmoilmagazine.com showed that FFB prices rose across various tree-age categories. FFB from three-year-old palms was priced at IDR 3,126.90 per kilogram, while four-year-old palms reached IDR 3,333.33 per kilogram. Prices for trees aged five, six, seven, and eight years were set at IDR 3,449.87, IDR 3,553.25, IDR 3,533.54, and IDR 3,653.76 per kilogram, respectively.

Meanwhile, FFB from nine-year-old palms was valued at IDR 3,689.60 per kilogram. The highest price during the period was recorded for 21-year-old palms, which reached IDR 3,722.88 per kilogram, slightly above the 10–20-year category.

For older plantations, FFB prices were set at IDR 3,686.63 per kilogram for 22-year-old palms, IDR 3,636.18 per kilogram for 23-year-old palms, IDR 3,522.52 per kilogram for 24-year-old palms, and IDR 3,417.16 per kilogram for 25-year-old palms.

Prices gradually declined for trees beyond 25 years of age. FFB from 26-year-old palms was priced at IDR 3,388.89 per kilogram, followed by IDR 3,337.86 per kilogram for 27-year-old palms, IDR 3,284.03 per kilogram for 28-year-old palms, IDR 3,228.55 per kilogram for 29-year-old palms, and IDR 3,173.08 per kilogram for 30-year-old palms.

The latest increase in FFB prices underscores the resilience of Indonesia’s palm oil sector and is expected to provide additional income for growers across North Sumatra, a province that remains a major contributor to the country’s palm oil production. (P3)
