PALMOILMAGAZINE, PALANGKARAYA – In the self-reporting socialization about palm oil industry governance through Sistem Informasi Perizinan Perkebunan (Siperibun) applicaton and revenue optimization in Central Kalimantan Province, Thursday, (6/7/2023), General Director of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture, Andi Nur Alam Syah said that agricultural sector is the mainstay economy nationally.
“In general, the economy still shows tenacity nationally. It is helped by the increasing domestic income and the investment runs well. Inflation keeps stable and sustainability in exports runs positively,” he said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from the official page of MMC Central Kalimantan Province, Friday (7/7/2023).
Andi continued palm oil contribution is from the plantations nationally that laid about 16,83 million hectares. 58 percent or about 8,9 million hectares belonged to big private companies and the government, 42 percent or 6,9 million hectares belonged to the smallholders.

He also said Indonesia is the biggest palm oil producer in the world and by December 2022, palm oil markets from Indonesia to the world reached about 59 percent or 45,5 million tons of 77,2 million tons of the total production in the world.
But Andi thought, palm oil industries still need improvement. That is why the government is fully committed to improve their governance. “One thing to do is that every planter should do by self-reporting mechanism online through Siperibun application,” he said.
He thought, the goal is about to develop palm oil plantation database by getting data and map (namely from smallholders), improve the permits, and optimize revenue from the plantations. (T2)
