PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – In his inaugural address as President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto underscored the importance of achieving food and energy sovereignty for the nation’s future. He expressed confidence that Indonesia could realize food sovereignty within the next four to five years, aspiring to become a global food powerhouse.
“I’ve gained insights that allow me to better understand our situation. In the short term, we must produce enough food to meet the needs of every Indonesian,” he stated on Sunday, October 20, 2025, in Jakarta, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com.
Prabowo also addressed ongoing global tensions, emphasizing the need for Indonesia to prepare for potential crises, including energy shortages and conflicts. “Other countries will prioritize their own interests. We must be ready for scenarios where we cannot rely on foreign energy sources,” he added.

He highlighted Indonesia’s abundant natural resources, including palm oil, cassava, sugarcane, and sago, all of which could be harnessed for fuel, as well as significant geothermal, coal, and water reserves.
“My administration will work toward energy self-sufficiency by utilizing our natural resources. We have the technology to tap into water resources, and thankfully, we have sufficient water sources,” Prabowo said.
He also mentioned that it would be significant to confirm that the government’s helps should be really got by the people in need. He promised to apply digital technology to distribute direct subsidies for the families in need.
“We have to confirm that the helps would be right on targets, namely the people who still lived in poverty,” he mentioned.
He also mentioned that the government would focus on food and energy self-sufficiency as the strategic things to face the global scale – challenges and maintain the sovereignty nationally. (P2)
