1000 Men in The Regency of Lampung Barat Would Get Employment Insurance

PALMOILMAGAZINE, LAMPUNG – Around 1000 individuals in Lampung Barat Regency are set to receive assistance from the Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial (BPJS) Ketenagakerjaan, funded through profit sharing from the palm oil industry.

Anton Wijaya, the Head of Infrastructure and Counseling at the Livestock and Plantation Agency in Lampung Barat Regency, made this announcement alongside Yudha Setiawan, the Head of the Livestock and Plantation Agency in the same region.

Anton explained that approximately 15 smallholder farmers and workers from palm oil plantations in the regency would benefit from this program, with their contributions being covered by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

“What we do in the agency is that to get data about the names of the smallholders. We would hand over everything to BPJS. The numbers of the dues to get help would be Rp 16.800 per person per month,” Anton said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Media Lampung.

He also emphasized the helps in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan would be very significant and useful for the smallholders. “It is crucial to protect smallholders because they have high risk – kind of work. By having the help, they would be getting protection from risks of work and death,” he said.

This initiative showed that the regency is committed to deliver social protection for the smallholders that they are always put aside in social guarantee. By the cooperation between Livestock and Plantation Agency Lampung Barat and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, it is hoped the smallholders would get more comfortable, protection when having their activities.
