PALMOILMAGAZINE, BENGKALIS – The Bengkalis Regency Plantation Agency and Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis (Polbeng) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 15, 2024, to enhance the capacity of the smallholder plantation data collection team in Bengkalis Regency. The signing ceremony was attended by Mohammad Azmir, Head of the Plantation Agency, and Johny Custer, Director of Polbeng.
The partnership aims to support the Plantation Agency’s data collection efforts, with Polbeng providing expertise and training to improve data processing accuracy and efficiency. This initiative is expected to benefit those working in the palm oil sector by ensuring more precise and effective data collection.
Johny Custer emphasized the importance of the collaboration, noting that accurate data is essential to fully harness the region’s plantation potential. “Efficient management is key. By building team capacity, they will gain the technical and management skills necessary to perform effectively,” Johny said, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

Head of Plantation Agency Regency of Bengkalis, Mohammad Azmir said that palm oil plantations would be very significant for the people in Bengkalis. He thought palm oil plantations dominated more than a half of the regency in Bengkalis Island. It is urgent to get the accurate data.
“We still have minimum data about palm oil plantations. We need the helps from the experts namely from Polbeng to get more accurate data and would support the people to cultivate theirs. it is hoped to escalate the plantation productivity and be positive for the economy in this regency,” Azmir said.
After signing the MoU, both parties continued increase the data team collection capacity. It involved the officers from the agency and alumni of Polbeng who were appointed as the experts and developers.
The collaboration between the regional government and educational institution would be the strategic thing to reinforce the management and cultivation in palm oil plantations which eventually would increase the local’s welfare and the economy in the Regency of Bengkalis. (P2)
