PALMOILMAGAZINE, KETAPANG – El Nino, a weather phenomenon known for bringing drier conditions and elevated temperatures to various regions in Indonesia, poses significant challenges. In preparation for these extreme weather patterns, PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL), a subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ), has initiated a series of preventive and collaborative activities, engaging multiple stakeholders.

These proactive measures include convening morning meetings with relevant parties and conducting regular patrols to raise awareness about the dangers of forest fires in the areas surrounding the villages where the company operates. These efforts underscore KAL’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders to prevent and mitigate the risk of wildfires.”

Dadi also emphasized the company is committed to monitor and control new planting and should run safely, deliver supports to empower the local to prevent the fire. Every action is from the spirit of collaboration with many parties which are the same with the vision, mission, and assessment of the company.

“To escalate alertness that fire in the forests and areas could happen, we have fire prevention program in village and people – base by establishing kelompok tani peduli api (KTPA) in three villages around, they are, Kuala Tolak, Kuala Satong, and Laman Satong. The villagers actively involved in fire prevention initiatives,” he said.

On 6 September 2023, KAL also took participation to prevent the health impact from the fire in District of Ketapang by donating 5.000 maskers through Housing and Residential Area and Environment Agency and collaborated with Traffic Unit of Police of Ketapang. (T2)
