PALMOILMAGAZINE, KALIMANTAN – Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA), a palm oil plantation company, emphasized the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration for sustainable palm oil operations. However, differing perceptions and misunderstandings often lead to social conflicts. To address these issues, BGA held the second annual Forum Silaturahmi Masyarakat (Forsimas) to foster dialogue and develop solutions with the local community.
Priyanto P.S., Director of Corporate Affairs & Partnership at BGA, stated that synchronizing the efforts of the company and the community is crucial for achieving a sustainable business.
“Forsimas should be the place to get aspiration, know the conflicts, and evaluate the programs in the company. I would like every representative of department should be honest and transparent to every single people,” Priyanto said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Thursday (25/7/2024).
Forsimas was conducted in every operation of BGA. It ran in togetherness and kindship. It took every department to deliver response and explanation about what other stakeholders said about issues. The agenda started by the explanation about the aspiration follow up from the first year – Forsimas. It was delivered by Regional Head BGA. After that, there were speeches, question and answer sessions.
Director of PT Gunajaya Karya Gemilang (BGA Group), Kamsen Saragih said last year critics and suggestion in Forsimas were realized. “From 18 points, we have realized 17 points. Just one point is still being adjusted. This showed the company would be responsible on what other stakeholders hoped for,” Saragih said in Kendawangan, West Kalimantan Province.
Through Forsimas, BGA hoped to reinforce symbiosis mutualism and profitable and also develop the local people’s trusts. The constructive and transparent collaboration should get the same understanding, avoid social conflicts, and realize the same goals for the sustainable business. (P2)
