Conservation and Environmental Innovation

Musim Mas has been actively restoring riparian zones (riverbanks) by planting local tree species. Over the past 15 years, more than 155,000 trees have been planted and continuously monitored.

At its palm oil mills, the company has adopted a Zero Waste approach, recycling by-products for reuse. Additionally, its Methane Capture facilities convert methane gas waste into electricity, powering both the mills and worker housing.

“We are the first palm oil group to expand Methane Capture projects to nearly all of our mills. The Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol, even visited our facility in Sorek, Riau, as part of Indonesia’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction roadmap,” Kanna added.

Starting in 2024, Musim Mas Group has aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to achieve Net Zero by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement and Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
