PALMOILMAGAZINE, MEDAN – PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk (PT SMART Tbk), in collaboration with the Research and Innovation Development Agency of Universitas Sumatera Utara (BPRI USU), hosted the Sinarmas Agribusiness and Food Goes to USU: Business Insight Talk Show and Campus Hiring at the Prof. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) USU. The event focused on “The Future of Palm Oil: The Role of Gen Z and Technology in Driving Innovation.”

Prof. Arida Susilowati, Manager of Global Partnerships at USU, representing USU Rector Prof. Muryanto Amin, emphasized the relevance of the theme to the current industry landscape. She highlighted palm oil as a key commodity that significantly contributes to the economy, particularly in North Sumatra. Prof. Arida also stressed the importance of youth involvement in the industry’s development.

“Gen Z is known for being adaptive and creative. We hope they will become the driving force behind innovation in the palm oil sector,” she stated, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from USU’s official website on Saturday (March 1, 2025).

Yudi Heriyadi, Lead HRBP US Operations at PT SMART Tbk, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to share insights with USU students. He underscored the crucial role of young professionals in advancing the palm oil industry.

Meanwhile, Buchari, Head of BPRI USU, pointed out that the event provided students with valuable insights into career opportunities in the palm oil industry, particularly at PT SMART Tbk. He also highlighted the significance of innovation in utilizing palm oil by-products, such as oil palm trunks.

“This event gives students a clearer picture of career prospects in the palm oil sector and the innovations that can be developed,” he stated.
