PALMOILMAGAZINE, NEW YORK – Recently, General Secretary of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), Rizal Affandi Lukman, participated in the United Nations (UN) Political Forum for Sustainable Development 2024 at the UN Headquarters in New York on Thursday (11/7/2024).
Rizal attendance marked a significant moment as it was the first UN conference focused specifically on palm oil. He highlighted the crucial role of palm oil in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supporting global sustainability.
In his speech, Rizal emphasized that the palm oil industry plays a vital role in advancing environmental sustainability and the global economy. He assured that CPOPC is dedicated to promoting sustainable practices throughout the entire palm oil supply chain.
This meeting represents a historic milestone for CPOPC as an international organization for palm oil producers. Lukman stressed that with UN support, it is essential to foster international cooperation to achieve SDGs on a broader scale.
In the rare chance, he also delivered the challenges in palm oil industries when facing the global scale issues, for instance, climate changes, and sustainable environment. He took every related party to collaborate and get sustainable and inclusive solution(s).
Rizal’s presence in the forum would reinforce not only the position of CPOPC as the leader in palm oil industries, but also mean the commitment to realize SDGs globally.
