PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – In the pursuit of enhancing governance in the palm oil plantation and industry, the General Director of Plantation at the Ministry of Agriculture has implemented tangible measures.
Prayudi Syamsuri, the Director of Plantation Product Marketing and Process (PPMP) at the General Directorate of Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, has played a pivotal role in governance improvement by introducing new regulations related to palm oil plantations. One notable requirement is that every planter must submit a self-report through the Sistem Informasi Perizinan Perkebunan (Siperibun).
The other is to get data about smallholders/people’s plantations to get cultivation documents. He also told that low plantation productivity, and fresh fruit bunch (FFB) price are the issues to be solved.
He also told some issues to be solved, such as, the coordination between the regional and central governments to develop palm oil plantation business. The holistic coordination would be very significant to get plantation data to improve these industries.
“Every planter (the corporates and smallholders) should obey every available regulation in palm oil regions, and market access should be traceable. These are the focuses of the government,” Prayudi said to Palmoilmagazine.com.

The government has established palm oil plantation/industrial governance task force by hoping to accelerate and reinforce plantation business permit governance in data – base and there would be no corruption. There would be development, monitoring on plantation business, coordination reinforcement among ministries/institutions in national and regional scales in plantation sector.
“Finally, the three goals eventually would escalate easiness of doing business and would optimize plantation as one main economic sector nationally,” he said. (T2)
