PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed that all issues related to palm oil plantations involving smallholders be resolved within one month. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Palm Oil Task Force, Airlangga Hartarto, conveyed this after attending an internal meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
The discussions addressed regulations and land use for palm oil plantations. “The main issues are related to delays and the development of areas for palm oil plantations. These were the topics of discussion. The President urged that the issues be resolved within one month,” Airlangga said, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from Antara on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
He also mentioned that the Omnibus Law on Job Creation allowed a three-year adjustment period for palm oil plantation owners to comply with the regulations. Now that the period has ended, the government will address any non-compliance issues.

Besides, in 2023, smallholders replanting program (SRP) significantly got wider, it covered 53.012 hectares to 30.759 hectares in 2022. The fund distributed reached Rp 1,5 trillion and handed over to 21.020 planters.
Airlangga also said one main issue to conduct SRP is the regulation that may have issues with the smallholders’ (plantations).
From the record, SRP realization in 2023 got escalated 72,35 percent to 2022. (T2)
