PALMOILMAGAZINE, SAMPIT – Following the clash between the villagers residing near the palm oil plantations of PT Bangun Jaya Alam Permai (BJAP) in early July 2023, a mediation process was initiated for the affected communities. The mediation involved representatives from six villages and one village in the District of Seruyan.
Vice Regent of Seruyan, Iswanty, informed that the mediation included the head of the sub-district, the police chief of Seruyan, the daily chairman of DAD Seruyan (Customary Council), Damang, representatives from the company (PT BJAP), and village heads.
After the negotiations, a resolution was reached, with PT BJAP agreeing to allocate 20 percent of the land for the development of plasma plantations for the villagers. The positive outcome of the mediation was reported on Saturday (22/7/2023) by Borneonews.
It was the fifth mediation that District of Seruyan, the company, and the villagers did. The two previous medition did not came to a conclusion.

Some conclusions were PT BJAP would develop 20 percent from its palm oil plantations or about 13.500 hectares for the villagers in Village of Rantau Pulut, Village of Bukit Buluh, Village of Mugi Penyuhu, Village of Tumbang Bai, Village of Ayawan, Village of Sukamandang, and Village of Durian Tunggal.
Head of sub district of Seruyan Tengah, heads of the villages should establish cooperation, get coordination with agency of population and civil registration to know who would get palm oil plantation development from PT BJAP and should be proposed to Regent of Seruyan to publish a document about candidates of smallholder.
The area candidates would wait for the coordination result from Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Jakarta that Regent of Seruyan and villagers would do and facilitated by PT BJAP.
When everything is in process, the villagers should not demonstrate or massively harvest that would disturb security particularly in palm oil plantations of PT BJAP.
“I hope this would be the best gift for the villagers from me when I would not be as vice regent of Seruyan anymore. This should be a solution for them,” Iswanty said. (T2)
