Exploring Assistance in the Palm Oil Sector: FGD and Talkshow at Bunex 2023

Ministry of Agriculture / Prayudi Syamsuri, the Director of Plantation Production Marketing and Cultivation at the General Directorate of Plantation, highlighted that in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 03/2022 and Decision of the General Director of Plantation Number 62/2023, there are nine types of infrastructure support available to planters.

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Agriculture, through the General Directorate of Plantation, continues its efforts to enhance palm oil plantation production, productivity, additional value, and quality. One such initiative is the Perkebunan Expo (Bunex) 2023, which featured various engaging activities, including focus group discussions (FGD) and talk shows.

On the first day of Bunex 2023, an FGD session took place. Prayudi Syamsuri, the Director of Plantation Production Marketing and Cultivation at the General Directorate of Plantation, highlighted that in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 03/2022 and Decision of the General Director of Plantation Number 62/2023, there are nine types of infrastructure support available to planters.

These include access to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, post-harvest tools, cultivation techniques, plantation pathways, public road and/or port access, transportation, agricultural machinery, the establishment of market infrastructure, and technical verification for the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification.

“The target to provide infrastructures in 2023 for extensification would be 2.000 hectares (ha), intensification 10.000 ha, making/improving path in plantation and water management 8.000 ha, agricultural machine 20 units, ISPO certificate 140 packages, post – harvest tools 40 packages, market infrastructure 5 packaged, result or harvest cultivation/processing 7 units, transportation equipment 25 units. That is why it needs acceleration by proposing what planters need in online system. Prayudi continued, escalating palm oil plantation production and productivity should advantage fund from Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) through smallholders replanting program (SRP) which the program has been running since 2017. SRP targets to old trees (more than 25 years), low productivity, and time to get SRP. Every year, SRP target should cover 180.000 ha in 21 provinces of palm oil plantation centers. (T2)
