PALMOILMAGAZINE, PONTIANAK – The Chairman of Gabungan Pelaku dan Pemerhati Sistem Integrasi Sapi-Kelapa Sawit (GAPENSISKA), Joko Iriantono, highlighted that palm oil plantations span approximately 16.3 million hectares. This extensive potential presents an opportunity to implement the palm oil – cow integrated program as a viable solution to meet national beef supply demands.
Positioned as a strategic approach, this integrated program becomes a crucial factor in supporting food security at the national level. The upcoming second international seminar, ‘Integrated Cattle and Oil Palm Production’ (ICOP) in 2024, themed “Synergizing Growth and Sustainability: Innovating Integrated Cattle and Oil Palm Plantation Systems,” is expected to unveil numerous research findings. These results aim to formulate strategies that contribute to the enhancement and fortification of food security on a national scale.

Joko expressed optimism that the event would provide valuable insights for the development of palm oil plantations. He underscored the pivotal role of palm oil plantations in realizing food independence.
Palm oil plantations have potential in producing much vegetable oil, provide business chances that would be profitable by implementing palm oil – cow integrated program. “This seminar should be the stage to discuss, develop many studies about research development in this sector,” he said in a Welcome Dinner of the 2nd ICOP Conference 2024 that Palmoilmagazine.com attended, Sunday (28/1/2024).
Joko said the program would create one business package which is sustainable and significantly delivering economic advantages. “Through the collaboration among stakeholders and integrated system observers, it is hoped to positively contribute for food security and palm oil plantation development in Indonesia,” he said.
