PALMOILMAGAZINE, KAYUAGUNG – Hundreds of residents in Pelimbangan, Subdistrict of Cengal, Ogan Komering (OKI) District, feel deceived by PT Samora, a palm oil plantation company operating in their village. Having sold their land covering approximately 6,000 hectares for a meager Rp 1,000,000 per hectare, the villagers now find themselves facing disappointment as the promised plasma plantation by the company remains unrealized.
Initially, the locals relinquished their land with the hope of reaping benefits through various agreements. However, following the company’s harvesting of the 6,000 hectares, the villagers are disillusioned by the absence of the promised plasma plantations.
Speaking to the press on Thursday (25/1/2024), a villager named Junaidi stated that they were assured of receiving plasma plantations for their families, a commitment that remains unfulfilled to date. Junaidi also raised concerns about village officials, claiming that they are now required to surrender an additional 1,000 hectares that have yet to be cultivated as a condition for the promised plasma program.
