Infrastructure Deterioration in Kampar Villages: KNPI Riau Chairman Highlights Impact of Numerous Palm Oil Operations

PALMOILMAGAZINE, KAMPAR – Numerous roads in nearly 21 sub-districts within the District of Kampar are in a state of disrepair, presenting a significant challenge. Illustratively, the conditions in Koto Garo Village and Danau Lancang Village are particularly dire, with roads severely damaged, especially in proximity to both company-owned and private palm oil plantations.

The continuous heavy rainfall has exacerbated the road conditions, especially in Koto Garo Village, Subdistrict of Tapung Hilir, and Danau Lancang Village, Subdistrict of Tapung Hulu. The deteriorating roads pose a serious threat to both drivers and riders.

An evident example is the route from Jalan Kelompok Tani to Jalan Kerikilan in Koto Garo Village, where villagers are compelled to navigate through muddy paths, exposing them to risks for extended periods.

The same thing happens in Kampung Baru, Village of Danau Lancang. Though there are palm oil and gas companies operating around, the villagers should struggle with mud to evacuate if their vehicles got stuck.

“Many ways in Village of Kampar get broken though in the right and left side of the ways are palm oil plantation companies,” Chairman of Komite Nasional Pemuda Indonesia (KNPI) Riau Province, Larshen Yunus said to Palmoilmagazine.com, Sunday (28/1/2024).

Lights along the ways in District of Kampar do not function in a whole. This is dark in many villages. He thought this is not the same with the fabulous natural resources in the district which seems not to deliver the positive to welfare the villagers.

He also told that the villagers should unite and revolutionize mentality. Though the people face unfairness and hard situation, he encouraged the villagers to survive and unite to struggle for the infrastructures, namely ways to be improved.

Knowing that palm oil and other companies are the keys to maximize the improvement, he also emphasized that very head of village, sub district plays significant roles to realize the way improvement.

To realize it, he emphasized his organization would develop the villagers to improve the ways in the villages to escalate circular economy and the same welfare.

He also mentioned it needs to get some that care and being proactive. The heads of villages and sub districts should not ignore every condition which is a loss for the people. With the spirit of change, he convinced the people of Kampar would get the advantages by improving the infrastructures needed. (T2)
