2nd TPOMI 2024: Advancing Palm Oil Industries Through Enhanced Efficiency and Innovation

PALMOILMAGAZINE, BANDUNG – While many industries claim to boost productivity and efficiency, the palm oil sector continues to seek ways to maximize its potential. A significant challenge is ensuring the supply of high-quality crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO).

Setiadi Diarta, Director of Plantation and Sea Product Industry at the Ministry of Industry, addressed this issue at the ‘2nd Technology and Talent Palm Oil Mill Indonesia (2nd TPOMI 2024)’ in Bandung. He emphasized that the palm oil downstream industries rely heavily on quality material supplies.

“The sustainability of the palm oil downstream industries requires a consistent supply of high-quality CPO and PKO in adequate quantities nationwide,” he stated. Increasing productivity through advanced and appropriate technology is essential to achieving this goal.

The 2nd TPOMI 2024 conducted by plantation media and Praktisi Profesional Perkebunan Indonesia (P3PI) showed the latest innovations in technology and talents for palm oil industries.

Head of Palm Oil Mill P3PI, Posma Sinurat emphasized the event would be important to face the challenges and conflicts in nowadays palm oil industries. “The theme we proposed, is ‘Updating Technology and Talent Palm Oil Mill’ that would be relevant with nowadays palm oil industries,” Sinurat said in his speech that Palmoilmagazine.com attended, Thursday (18/7/2024).

Two main focuses in the event were the latest technology implementation and equity with human resources in palm oil mill. “In the 2nd TPOMI, we would see the update technology, management, processing, and the increasing yield,” Sinurat mentioned.

Chairman of Forum Pengembangan Perkebunan Strategis Berkelanjutan (Fp2SB), Achmad Mangga Barani also said technology would develop fast in agriculture sectors, namely plantation. “Palm oil, as the ‘green gold’ of Indonesia needed the long journey to be in nowadays position as the number one contributor in the world,” Mangga Barani said.

Technology development in palm oil mills led to get higher efficiency namely in digitalization and artificial intelligence adoption. “Palm oil mills should be update with the technology development to get more valuable and efficient products,” Mangga Barani said. The event itself was about to discuss and introduce the practical technology both developed in this country and others.

Mangga Barani emphasized the technology in palm oil mill should be a must to minimize yield losses. “In the future, palm oil industries should be more efficient to minimize yiled losses,” he said.

In a whole, the 2nd TPOMI 2024 would be the important platform for many stakeholders to share knowledges and latest innovation. By focusing on technology and talent development, these industries would keep developing and contributing massively for the national scale – economy. (P2)
