PALMOILMAGAZINE, MEULABOH – The University of Teuku Umar (UTU) conducted a strategic visit to three palm oil plantation companies in Aceh to strengthen cooperation and develop educational programs relevant to the industry.
The visits began on July 4, 2024, at PT Socfindo Seunagan in Nagan Raya Regency, followed by a visit to PT Fajar Baizuri and Brother in Nagan Raya Regency on July 9, 2024, and concluded with a visit to PT Agro Sinergi Nusantara in Aceh Barat Regency on July 11, 2024.
During the visits, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at UTU, Rusdi Faizin, and his team discussed renewing the memorandum of agreement (MoA) and cooperation agreements with the three companies.

“The goal is to get relevant cooperation that would maximally deliver advantages. UTU would invite the companies to contribute in formulating curriculum needed to be adjustable with palm oil industries,” Rusdi said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from the Public Relation, UTU, Wednesday (17/7/2024).
Besides discussing cooperation, the university also represented the plan to develop magot in Faculty of Agriculture by hoping that there would be supports of materials from palm oil industries. Palm oil wastes were also discussed in the meeting.
Faculty of Agriculture, UTU recently opened Tempat Uji Kompetensi (TUK) Skema Nasional Bidang Asisten Kebun Kelapa Sawit that would be managed by Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi (LSP UTU). It would be about to escalate the competency of every graduate in palm oil industries. Laboratory of GIS Faculty of Agriculture, UTU was also discussed in the cooperation to support implementation standards in ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil) and RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and European Union Deforestation Regulation in palm oil.
The representatives of the companies did welcome the initiative and would get further discussion to deliver detail about the companies’ involvement in the projects. The visit would be part of preparation of UT which would be transformed to be public service obligation. This showed their commitment to escalate educational quality and sustainability in agricultural sectors.
The support of palm oil companies should help UTU to prepare every graduate to be ready and facing the future challenges in palm oil industries. (P2)
