PALMOILMAGAZINE, PEKANBARU – Assistant II for Economy and Development in the City of Pekanbaru’s Secretariat, Riau Province, Ingot Ahmad Hutasuhut, highlighted the vast potential of palm oil plantations in the region. He noted that the extensive plantation area presents significant opportunities for optimal utilization.
“Data shows that Pekanbaru’s palm oil plantations cover a substantial area, indicating a massive potential for development,” Hutasuhut said during the inauguration of the Technical Development Program aimed at strengthening the Smallholders’ Plantation Data Team in Pekanbaru, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com on Friday, October 25, 2024.
He also referenced President Prabowo Subianto’s inaugural speech, in which the president stressed the importance of achieving self-sufficiency in food and energy and advancing downstream sectors based on Indonesia’s abundant resources. The 25,000 hectares of palm oil plantations in Pekanbaru, Hutasuhut noted, would play a key role in supporting these goals.

“These figures are substantial and hold great potential to contribute to national self-sufficiency efforts,” he added.
He hoped the data team in charge should be able to realize their work well. The data collected should not stop at the raw numbers but should be managed by every related instance to get information comprehensively about the resources and potential in the City of Pekanbaru namely in palm oil plantation sectors.
By having the competent team and accurate data, City of Pekanbaru would be optimist to the potential of palm oil plantations to be maximized and supporting the self-sufficiency realization nationally and would escalate the local welfare.
The technical development would be the start to confirm that every palm oil plantation potential should be put into data well to be optimized to realize the regional and national – scale strategic goal developments. (P2)
