Prayudi Syamsuri: Smallholders Insitution Reinforcement To Boost ISPO Achievement

 PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Prayudi Syamsuri, Director of Plantation Product Marketing and Processing, highlighted that the attainment of ISPO certification lags behind, covering only 5.6 million hectares, or approximately 37.08 percent of the targeted area. To address this issue, he emphasized the need to enhance the roles of institutions within the industry.

Syamsuri underscored his institution’s commitment to strengthening its capabilities to tackle the challenges associated with obtaining more ISPO certifications. He called upon the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) to provide financial support for acquiring cultivation documentation.

“Smallholder groups engaged in the ISPO certification process should be registered under the infrastructure program,” he stated during a public discussion and press conference organized by SPKS in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/4/2024), as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com.

In order to optimize fund utilization, Syamsuri stressed the importance of proposing efficient and appropriate targets. He suggested that the process should be closely monitored by relevant parties to ensure its smoothness and effectiveness.

He also said that it is significant to discuss and revise ISPO implementation. It should be about palm oil downstream aspect and adjusting ISPO status to be mandatory or voluntary and hoped that the regulation revision process by Ministry of Agriculture should accelerate the solution and ISPO could be implemented more effectively and much larger.

“Assessment model would be perfect more to minimize the spent and accelerate ISPO certification process and the burden in PFMA would be less and be diverted to other unions,” Prayudi said. (T2)
