PALMOILMAGAZINE, PEKANBARU – According to Arief Subhan Siregar, the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Plasma Smallholders at PTPN V, the government-owned palm oil plantation company has established partnerships with plasma smallholders across various unions within each operational unit. Currently, PTPN V manages approximately 71,300 hectares of palm oil plantations, with partnerships involving people’s plantations spanning around 56,000 hectares, representing approximately 66 percent of the total main plantations.
“In fact, PTPN V has implemented the government’s mandatory program, which is, 20% of plasma plantation development because our plasma smallholders have cultivated 56.000 hectares or 66 percent of our main plantations. Why? Because the goal of PTPN V when being established is to develop with smallholders. That is ‘khittah’ of PTPN V that CEO PTPN V, Jatmiko Santosa tried to deliver back for the past fourty years,” he said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Wednesday (31/5/2023).
In realizing partnership namely to accelerate smallholders replanting program (SRP), Arief confirmed that the company fully does it. The proof is that the plasma smallholders’ plantation productivity that got SRP got much better than the average nationally, about 29,23 tons per hectare per year. The numbers are more than standard productivity nationally for five – year old – productive trees that reach 26 tons per hectare per year.

He also said, the company runs single management which runs since 2019 and impacts to get significantly increasing productivity.
“From the beginning, we are committed to fully do the best to our friends, independent smallholders. Our establishment is to reinforce and empower smallholders. That is ‘khittah’ of the real PTPN V,” he said.
He also said, the company has four programs to offer to smallholders of Bumi Lancang Kuning to escalate their economy through ‘PTPN untuk Sawit Rakyat’ programs, they are replanting and cultivation of plasma smallholders’ plantations in single management; providing superior seeds for independent smallholders; partnership with independent ones by having offtaker that the company develops,; and empowering koperasi unit desa to be the technical partner for other smallholders or farmers. “PTPN has been established for the people. Whatever the initiation was to escalate the people’s welfare by increasing productivity, is the priority,” Arief said. (T2)
