PALMOILMAGAZINE, LABUHA – Infrastructure Improvementcontinues in the Regency of Halmahera Selatan following a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck the region in 2019. Both the local government and companies operating in the area are actively involved in these improvements.
One notable example of infrastructure enhancement is the opening of access roads by PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (PT GMM), a palm oil plantation company under the Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group. This initiative facilitates students and villagers commuting to SMA Nurul Hasan in the Village of Sekely, Subdistrict of Gane Barat Selatan. Previously, the road was muddy, leading to frequent accidents, particularly during rainfall.
Aten Sahiba, a respected figure in the Village of Sekely, emphasized the significance of improving the road, given the high number of students who use it. He also expressed gratitude for the corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts of PT GMM in enhancing the infrastructure.
As in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, not only for the students, many villagers get massive impacts for the access improvement. A villager of Gene Dalam, Zainulfuad told it was difficult when way was not improved yet. They had to use boat and walked to get to the other village. By the improvement, the transportation access now gets better and the cost is more economic.
Infrastructure improvement is one focus of CSR of PT GMM to help the villagers’ social economic recovery after the earth quake. Mahdi Md Nur, Public Relation of PT GMM told that the program would be always sustainable namely to improve the way and religious places. (T2)
