PALMOILMAGAZINE, PALANGKARAYA – PT Citra Borneo Utama Tbk. (CBUT) is set to significantly increase its refinery capacity in the near future. Currently, the company operates at a capacity of 2,500 metric tons (MT) of crude palm oil (CPO) per day, totaling 850,000 MT per year. In the second quarter of next year, CBUT plans to commission additional refineries that will boost its total capacity to 4,000 MT of CPO per day.
“We expect the new refinery to be operational commercially in the second half of next year, adding 1,500 MT of CPO capacity per day,” said Ronny Hertantyo Raharjo, Director of PT Citra Borneo Utama Tbk., in a statement to Palmoilmagazine.com on Wednesday (October 2, 2024).
To achieve this goal, CBUT intends to enter the premium palm cooking oil market. Historically, the company has focused on selling bulk palm cooking oil in both domestic and international markets.

Ronny mentioned that preparations, including obtaining permits, establishing a brand, and securing packaging tools, are in place to launch the premium palm cooking oil line, targeted for late 2024 or early 2025. “However, logistics will be a key factor in ensuring that consumers have access to the premium palm cooking oil,” he added.
The company also targeted the local and national scale – markets to sell its products even though it still considered the condition and logitstic sectors.
Besides producing palm cooking oil, PT CBUT has fractionation mill within 2.500 MT refined, bleached, and deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) capacity per day or 850.000 MT per year; kernel crushing mill within 600 MT capacity and kernel per hour or 219.000 MT per year. The company’s product portfolio would cover 565.076 MT RBDPO; 322.447 MT olein, 77.313 MT stearin; 21.523 MT palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD); and 9.991 MT crude palm kernel oil (CPKO).
The strategic expansion emphasized that PT Citra Borneo Utama Tbk., would be committed to increase its production and diversify the products to fulfill the increasing market demands. (P2)
