PALMOILMAGAZINE, LAMANDAU – The Lamandau Regency in Central Kalimantan held a socialization event on the Smallholders Replanting Program (SRP) to boost plantation productivity and increase smallholders’ incomes. The event was targeted at both independent and plasma smallholders.
Lamandau’s Regional Secretary, Irwansyah, expressed hope that the program would significantly benefit the planters, particularly independent smallholders, by improving their plantation productivity and future income.
“The main goal of the program is to enhance the harvests of both independent and plasma smallholders. As plantation productivity improves, so will the smallholders’ income,” Irwansyah stated, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com via Antara on Monday, September 30, 2024.
The socialization was attended by independent smallholders, including members from village cooperatives (KUD), farming groups, and smallholder associations across the regency. The SRP program is expected to run effectively and deliver positive impacts on the local economy.
SIDR would be part of the government’s program to support sustainable palm oil industries, namely for the independent smallholders that may be limited in the resource. By the program, it is hoped they could take advantages on technology and superior seeds to increase theirs and could compete in the trade and would improve their welfare.
Regency of Lamandau would be committed to develop them to face the agricultural and plantation challenges, encourage to increase their plantation productivity and sustainability in the region. (P2)
