PALMOILMAGAZINE, MEDAN — Fresh fruit bunch (TBS) prices for plasma smallholders in North Sumatra declined across all plantation age groups for the Aug. 5–11, 2026 period, according to the latest price determination issued by the province’s Agriculture and Food Security Agency.
The price of TBS from 10–20-year-old oil palms was set at IDR 3,934.64 per kilogram, down IDR 27.63/kg from IDR 3,962.27/kg in the previous period.
The price determination followed a meeting of the North Sumatra TBS Price Determination Team for Plasma Smallholders held on Aug. 5 at the Agriculture and Food Security Agency’s Padi Hall in Medan.

CPO, Kernel Prices Form Basis for TBS Calculation
The latest price determination was based on an average local and export CPO price of IDR 15,427.67/kg, excluding value-added tax (VAT). The average local palm kernel price was set at IDR 14,094.71/kg, also excluding VAT.
The K factor, meanwhile, was set at 94.15%.

Under the pricing formula, the TBS price received by smallholders is determined by the age of the oil palms, along with the CPO and palm kernel extraction rates assigned to each age group.
For three-year-old palms, the TBS price was set at IDR 3,316.88/kg, down IDR 26.99/kg from IDR 3,343.86/kg in the previous period.
Prices generally increased with palm age. TBS from five-year-old palms was set at IDR 3,659.21/kg, while seven-year-old palms were priced at IDR 3,736.64/kg and nine-year-old palms at IDR 3,902.81/kg.

For the 10–20-year age group, the price was set at IDR 3,934.64/kg.
Beyond the 20-year mark, prices varied across the age groups. TBS from 21-year-old palms was set at IDR 3,939.77/kg, followed by IDR 3,903.53/kg for 22-year-old palms and IDR 3,848.19/kg for 23-year-old palms.
At the other end of the scale, TBS from 30-year-old palms was priced at IDR 3,370.78/kg, down IDR 29.31/kg from IDR 3,400.09/kg in the previous period.

Prices Decline Across All Age Groups
The latest schedule shows that TBS prices declined across all plantation age groups, with decreases ranging from approximately IDR 25.97/kg to IDR 29.67/kg.
For five-year-old palms, for example, the price fell by IDR 29.67/kg, from IDR 3,688.88/kg to IDR 3,659.21/kg. The price for seven-year-old palms declined by IDR 25.97/kg, from IDR 3,762.60/kg to IDR 3,736.64/kg.
For the 10–20-year category, the decrease amounted to IDR 27.63/kg, from IDR 3,962.27/kg to IDR 3,934.64/kg.
The downward adjustment came despite the average CPO reference price remaining at IDR 15,427.67/kg and the local palm kernel price at IDR 14,094.71/kg.

Prices Effective Through Aug. 11
The North Sumatra Agriculture and Food Security Agency set the latest TBS prices for the Aug. 5–11, 2026 period.
The price schedule serves as an important reference for plasma smallholders in determining the value of their TBS based on palm age, extraction rates and prevailing CPO and palm kernel prices.
