PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Malaysian crude palm oil (CPO) futures came under heavy selling pressure on Thursday (Nov. 5, 2026), with all contracts on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange closing lower amid declining soybean oil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT).

According to Bernama, the November 2026 contract recorded the steepest decline, dropping RM174 to RM4,126 per tonne.

The December 2026 contract fell RM128 to RM4,279 per tonne, while the January 2027 contract declined RM119 to RM4,377 per tonne.

Losses extended across the forward curve. The February 2027 contract slipped RM114 to RM4,462 per tonne, while March 2027 fell RM111 to RM4,533 per tonne. The April 2027 contract also weakened, losing RM109 to close at RM4,587 per tonne.

The simultaneous decline across all trading months reflected broad-based selling pressure in the Malaysian palm oil futures market, as weakness in competing vegetable oils weighed on market sentiment.

Trading activity also slowed during the session. Total volume declined to 97,181 lots from 137,168 lots recorded on Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2026).

Meanwhile, open interest increased to 336,631 contracts from 334,908 contracts in the previous session, indicating a rise in outstanding futures positions.

In the physical market, CPO prices for November delivery in Southern Malaysia also weakened, falling RM90 to RM4,220 per tonne.

KPBN CPO Tender Ends Without a Transaction

The weakness in international markets coincided with subdued activity in Indonesia’s domestic CPO market, where the tender conducted by PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) on Thursday (Nov. 5, 2026) ended without a transaction.

Based on information obtained by PalmOilMagazine from KPBN, the tender was withdrawn (WD), with the highest bid recorded at IDR14,548 per kilogram.

For Franco Dumai, the opening price was set at IDR14,630/kg. However, the tender was ultimately withdrawn after the highest bid reached IDR14,548/kg.

The outcome reflected cautious buying interest in Indonesia’s domestic market, amid mounting pressure from declining international CPO futures.

With all Bursa Malaysia contracts posting losses and the KPBN tender failing to secure a transaction, the palm oil market faced pressure from both international price movements and subdued domestic trading activity. (P3)
