Malaysia CPO Futures Fall 9.04% in a Week

The January 2027 CPO contract on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell RM119, or 2.72%, to close at RM4,258 per tonne. This marked its lowest closing level since March 5, 2026.
For the week, the benchmark contract lost 9.04%, representing its steepest weekly decline since mid-December 2024. The losses also extended the contract’s downward trend to a second consecutive week.
Pressure was also evident across other major vegetable oil markets.

On the Dalian Commodity Exchange, the most actively traded soybean oil contract declined 1.41%, while the palm oil contract fell 2.41%.
Meanwhile, soybean oil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) slipped 0.53%.
Soybean oil weakness remains an important factor influencing palm oil price movements because the two commodities compete for market share in the global vegetable oil sector. Declining soybean oil prices can reduce palm oil’s relative price competitiveness and weigh on market sentiment.

The simultaneous declines across Malaysian, Chinese and US vegetable oil markets highlighted the broader pressure facing the palm oil complex.
With KPBN Inacom’s domestic tenders also ending without transactions, market participants are likely to continue monitoring competing vegetable oil prices and international futures movements for signals of the next direction in CPO trading.
