Under the 2026 BPDP Plantation Human Resources Scholarship Program, INSTIPER Yogyakarta will educate 150 undergraduate students, while AKPY will provide scholarship-based programs for 860 diploma students.
PALMOILMAGAZINE, YOGYAKARTA, INDONESIA — The Yayasan Pendidikan Kader Perkebunan Yogyakarta (YPKPY), the education foundation overseeing Institut Pertanian Stiper (INSTIPER) Yogyakarta and Akademi Komunitas Perkebunan Yogyakarta (AKPY), has signed a cooperation agreement with the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) to implement the 2026 Plantation Human Resources Scholarship Program.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the BPDP Ballroom and was witnessed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Under the 2026 scholarship program, INSTIPER Yogyakarta has been entrusted to provide undergraduate scholarships for 150 students across four study programs: Agrotechnology, Agribusiness, Agricultural Engineering, and Agricultural Technology.
Meanwhile, AKPY will provide scholarships for 740 students in its Diploma 1 program and 120 students in its Diploma 2 program, bringing the total number of scholarship recipients at the institution to 860 students.
YPKPY Chairman Dr. Purwadi welcomed the continued trust placed in INSTIPER and AKPY by BPDP to develop skilled human resources for Indonesia’s plantation sector.

“We are very grateful that INSTIPER Yogyakarta and AKPY continue to be trusted to implement the Plantation Human Resources Scholarship Program. We remain committed to becoming one of Indonesia’s leading plantation education institutions, particularly in the palm oil sector,” Purwadi said in an official statement received by PalmOilMagazine on Friday (Aug. 21)
He said the institutions would fulfill that responsibility by providing quality education aimed at producing highly skilled plantation professionals who are ready to enter the workforce and contribute to the advancement of Indonesia’s plantation industry.

Strengthening Palm Oil-Focused Education
INSTIPER Yogyakarta was represented at the signing ceremony by Vice Rector IV for Cooperation Fariha Wilisiani, Ph.D., accompanied by the scholarship management team.
Fariha said INSTIPER was among the 42 higher education institutions selected as providers of the 2026 Plantation Human Resources Scholarship Program. The university was also chosen to take part in the early signing process after being assessed as ready to implement the program.

The assessment included the institution’s preparedness and the alignment of its academic curriculum with the core competencies required by the palm oil industry.
This, she noted, is in line with INSTIPER’s long-standing commitment to palm oil education. The university has offered a dedicated undergraduate specialization in oil palm plantations, known as the Sarjana Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) study interest, since 2005.
Beyond classroom instruction and practical training, scholarship students at INSTIPER will also participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities designed to develop soft skills, personal interests, and broader competencies.

Students will also undertake internships with INSTIPER’s strategic industry partners, helping bridge academic knowledge with real-world industry requirements and preparing graduates to become adaptive and work-ready professionals.
At the end of their studies, students will also undergo competency certification to validate their professional skills in the plantation sector.
Through the new cooperation agreement, INSTIPER Yogyakarta and AKPY are further strengthening their role as plantation education institutions focused on producing skilled human resources capable of adapting to technological developments.

The strategic collaboration with BPDP is expected to support the long-term development and sustainability of Indonesia’s plantation sector by preparing a new generation of competent and industry-ready professionals. (P3)
