PALMOILMAGAZINE, BALI – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met with Liberia’s President Joseph Nyuma Boakai at the Casablanca Hall, Hotel Mulia Nusa Dua, Bali. The meeting marked a significant moment to discuss strategic cooperation between the two nations, which have maintained relations for nearly six decades.
In his speech, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for President Boakai’s presence and emphasized the importance of maintaining the strong bilateral ties. “Welcome to Indonesia, and thank you for being here, Your Excellency. The bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Liberia has flourished for almost six decades, and I believe we can continue to build on this,” Jokowi said, as noted by the Press Bureau, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat.
During the meeting, Jokowi highlighted key sectors of cooperation, including palm oil, which faces global challenges such as negative campaigns from Western countries and discriminatory policies like the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

“Indonesia keeps fighting for the negative campaigns and hopes that Liberia would support. Indonesia would be ready to help escalate the capacity in African countries, including Liberia,” he emphasized the commitment of Indonesia to fight for palm oil in the globe.
Besides palm oil, the two presidents discussed the chance to cooperate in infrastructures. Jokowi mentioned Indonesia would have many companies with many experiences and would be ready to cooperate with Liberia.
“Indonesia has many companies with many experiences to develop infrastructures, we are ready to cooperate with Liberia to support infrastructure development there,” he said while offering the concrete supports for Liberia.
Not only that, Jokowi said that Indonesia would be ready to reinforce development cooperation in many programs as what Liberia would need of. Technical supports, scholarship, vocational trainings would be kinds of helps from Indonesia to the country.
“Everything is ready to support the development in Liberia,” he emphasized to help.
The bilateral meeting should make the relationship between the two countries better and would deliver new chances to cooperate in profitable benefits, namely in strategic sectors. The two leaders emphasized their commitment to always cooperate for the same future progress. (P2)
