PALMOILMAGAZINE, PEKANBARU – FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, along with the Director General of Plantations from the Ministry of Agriculture and other officials, continued their visit to Riau after receiving the Agricola Medal from President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on Friday (30/08). The visit aimed to strengthen sustainable palm oil plantation governance in the province.
During the award ceremony, Qu Dongyu praised Indonesia for its rapid transformation in the agricultural sector by adopting sustainable practices, despite global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indonesia’s palm oil plantations adhere to sustainable principles, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing competitiveness in global trade. The industry not only serves as a major revenue source but also drives the local economy by providing significant employment opportunities.

As what Palmoilmagazine.com got, quoted on Monday (2/9/2024), Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman also emphasized that Indonesia would have the big potential in food and energy sectors namely through the initiation to use crude palm oil in biodiesel program since 2019.
