PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The Union of Palm Oil Farmers (SPKS) is set to organize the “Rembug Tani Nasional Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia 2023” event, spanning three days from August 31 to September 2, 2023. The chosen theme for the event is “Leveraging Self-Sustained Palm Oil Smallholders through Partnerships to Support the Biodiesel Program as a Source of Sustainable Transitional Energy in Indonesia.”
This theme was proposed by SPKS due to its alignment with the ongoing biodiesel program, which involves blending crude palm oil with diesel fuel and has been in operation since 2015. The theme also resonates with the message conveyed by President Joko Widodo in 2019, where he emphasized that the mandatory biodiesel program was formulated to enhance the empowerment and well-being of smallholders.
Head of Organization and Membership SPKS, Sabarudin said that the 2023 meeting would be important for many smallholders. The meeting also has four main goals, such as, the first, encourage to reinforce smallholders’ institution or independent smallholders’ cooperation as part to succeed the government’s programs, such as, biodiesel mandatory and smallholders replanting program.

The second, encourage smallholders’ welfare through material supply chain partnership between their institutions and companies that operate biodiesel mandatory program.
The third, expand the roles of Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) to support fund for independency, welfare, and sustainability of smallholders. The fourth, to become a forum that encourages collaboration to reinforce smallholders’ bargaining position in Indonesia.
He also said, that the meeting would be joined by SPKS members from 25 districts, such as, District of Sekadau, District of Sintang, District of Kotawaringin Barat, District of Seruyan, District of Paser, District of Rokan Hulu, District of Siak, District of Pelalawan, District of Kuantan Singingi, District of Labuhan Batu Utara, District of Tanjung Jabung Barat, District of Tanjung Jabung Timur, District of Musi Banyuasin, District of Mamuju, District of Mamuju Tengah, District of Pasangkayu, District of Aceh Utara, District of Lhokseumawe, District of Bireuen, District of Konawe Utara, District of Ketapang.
“From Rembug Petani Kelapa Sawit 2023 it is hoped to get recommendation in biodiesel mandatory program which independent smallholders would get the advantages,” Sabarudin said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Tuesday (22/8/2023). (T2)
