PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The investment security of the palm oil sector in Central Kalimantan is facing a serious challenge due to widespread theft of fresh fruit bunches (FFB).

One of the initial steps taken involves engaging in lobbying efforts with regional governments and the police to address the problem of FFB theft. Circulars have been issued to numerous mills in the province as part of these concerted efforts.

“We did preventive things by having lobby with regional governments and police and publishing circulars saying that the mills should not purchase FFB from the stealing,” he said to Palmoilmagazine.com, Tuesday (19/12/2023) by phone.

Syaiful thought, this would protect stakeholders and create good investment security in this sector.

IPOA Central Kalimantan realized that palm oil plantation investment in the province is not normal still. That is why he and the organization hoped there would be good partnership between stakeholders and the local people to support, and positively contribute to develop the province.

“IPOA Central Kalimantan hoped palm oil investment would be normal again without social, and security conflicts and the people and the stakeholders could be good partnership,” he said.

Though there was communication with the local security officer, IPOA realized the result was not maximal yet. IPOA is committed to follow up more intensively to guarantee investment security better and the stakeholders would operate with no fear of being stolen again.

“We did discuss with the local officers but it was not maximal to get the result. We would do more intensively to guarantee investment security,” he said. (T2)
