Kotim Regent Will Coordinate Regarding Massive Palm Oil Theft

PALMOILMAGAZINE, SAMPIT – Halikinnor, Regent of Kotawaringin Timur (Kotim) in Central Kalimantan Province is committed to addressing the problem of palm oil theft in numerous plantations within the region. He made this announcement during the year-end evaluation meeting held in the Kotim District with the participation of the regional forum, which also included representatives from the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA).

Halikinnor emphasized that a prompt meeting with IPOA is planned to efficiently address the issue of palm oil theft. The objective is to ensure the region’s safety and conducive environment, especially for investment purposes.

Deputy Chief of Kotim Police, Kompol Yosep Thomas Tortet told that conventional crime increased 32 percent in 2023 to 2022. The stealing and fraud were dominant in the case particularly palm oil stealing in the plantations.

Back to Halikinnor, he responded the issue and would take what the people claim about plasma realization from palm oil companies. He emphasized it needs to get the solution together on the issue.

The stealing that started from other region now happens in Kotim as the claim of plasma realizatioin from the companies that does not implement it. But the stealing also happened to the companies that implement plasma program.

Halikinnor was sorry for the situation and should get the same solution so that the people got their rights and the companies are cooperative to realize their promise. He also told that it needs to maintain good investment in the region for delivering impacts for the local economy. He does not want that the same condition happens in District of Seruyan where many palm oil plantations are not operating because of the stealing. (T2)
