Central Kalimantan Province Resolves Palm Oil Plantation Issues in Forest Areas

PALMOILMAGAZINE, PALANGKARAYA – Central Kalimantan Province is actively pursuing strategies to realize the Regional Action Plan for Sustainable Palm Oil, known as “Rencana Aksi Daerah Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan” (RAD KSB). This involves the implementation of regulations and the resolution of legal issues related to palm oil plantations based on existing regulations, with a primary focus on addressing palm oil development in forested areas.

Adi Soeseno, the Head of Plantation Protection at the Plantation Agency of Central Kalimantan Province, mentioned that the province is currently awaiting the audit and identification results from the Palm Oil Taskforce regarding the aforementioned case.

The Palm Oil Taskforce, coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and other relevant instances and ministries, has conducted an inventory and gathered data in the region to understand the extent of palm oil plantation activities in the province.

Identification data from the taskforce would be very crucial because it would be the basic to realize RAD KSB and other plantation programs that regulations mandate. Adi also explained that palm oil plantation that operate in forest regions would get the same mechanism as the central government regulates, which is, Undang-Undang Cipta Kerja.

He also emphasized that Central Kalimantan Province would be committed to deliver legal enforcement and regional regulation would confirm to deliver mutual benefits between the plantation sectors and the people. The goal is about to get the solution for palm oil plantations in forest regions while developing good partnership with the local.

“Central Kalimantan Province is committed to formulate policies and program that maintain, encourage to realize sustainable palm oil plantation development,” Adi said, as quoted from Prokal.

This is about to get solution on area conflict and confirm sustainable palm oil plantations develop as same as sustainable principles and criteria and deliver good advantages for every party involved. (T2)
