Promote Innovation Rooted in Nature: LTKL Ventures Worldwide

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL), with its mandate set to conclude in 2030, has taken significant steps to foster innovation in natural-based endeavors and broaden the opportunities for green stakeholders both locally and globally.

The year 2023 marked a pivotal moment with the launch of several initiative programs aimed at fostering cooperation among regencies and stakeholders, preparing investment portfolios, and capitalizing on real-world needs.

One notable initiative was the Sustainable Investment Masterclass, a phased training program developed through collaboration to support the nine regencies affiliated with LTKL. This program is designed to equip regencies and stakeholders with the skills and knowledge needed to develop investment portfolios that address genuine needs in the field.

The ecosystem in LTKL partners, at least, there are 21 commodities in natural innovation – base, for instance, PT Alam Siak Lestari and PT Semesta Sintang Lestari introduced ‘HEAL Fisheries’ portfolio that produced albumin extraction from snakehead fish and toman in peat areas in Regency of Siak and Sintang.

The products are the combination of modern food technology and traditional practices from the villagers that connected with pharmacy industries. It is predicted the markets for albumin extraction reached US$ 4,25 billion in 2021 and would become up to US$ 9,6 billion in 2028.

Besides, Gampiri Interaksi Lestari in Regency of Sigi did incubation program for local stakeholders to plant agro-forestry commodities and regenerative agriculture, such as, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, and moringa leaves. In the southwestern of this nation, Pusat Unggulan Pertanian Lestari (PUPL) in Regency of Aceh Tamiang developed smallholders to produce essential oil from patchouli.

Regency of Aceh Tamiang did launch sustainable economic development program with the production, protection, and inclusive agreement with many parties. This covered the commitment to escalate protection and reforestation, supervisory function, smallholders’ welfare, and protection to Kawasan Ekosistem Leuser for about 30.000 hectares.

In a whole, the market potential from the portfolio would be more than US$ 223 billion or equal to Rp 330 trillion globally. By having incubation programs, there have been 67 sustainable business entities in the regencies of LTKL, for instance, PT Alam Siak Lestari that protects 76.744 hectares of peat in 3 villages in Regency of Siak.

By the late of 2023, there had been 40 innovative products in natural – base in 9 regencies of partners. The products covered agroforestry, aquaculture, bamboo, coffee, chocolate, and coconut.

The programs from LTKL delivered the positive for the social, economy, and environment. By having jurisdiction approach sustainably, the members of LTKL maintain not only environment but also take advantages on natural resources sustainably by implementing good agricultural practices. (T2)
