Leveraging palm oil shells for biocoke production is seen as a strategic move to promote green energy adoption, offering benefits such as reduced carbon emissions and waste, which are critical issues in the foundry sector.

The joint venture is scheduled to commence production in the second half of 2024 to meet global biocoke demand. Makoto Okuda, President of Aisin Takaoka, emphasized that biocoke derived from palm oil shells will fully replace coal usage in foundry industries without compromising firing activity quality.

“Biocoke in palm oil shell – base would be developed to minimize carbon emission in the foundry industries which for all these years, became the main challenge in the industries, namely for us as the leader. And with Triputra Agro Persada, we would have the same policy to develop green energy to realize neutral carbon,” Okuda said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Tuesday (25/6/2024).

Triputra Agro Persada is chosen as the partner in the cooperation because it is one of biggest crude palm oil (CPO) producers in Indonesia. It has the same sustainability vision to be neutral carbon – company.

President Director of Triputra Agro Persada, Tjandra Karya Hermanto fully supported the establishment of joint venture company with Aisin Takaoka.

“We are very proud of having cooperation with Aisin Takaoka, as one leader in foundry industry. This would be the same with our sustainability commitment with the target, to be a neutral carbon – company in 2036,” Tjandra said.

Through the initiative “New Journey of TAPG Sustainability,” Triputra Agro Persada conducted many sustainability efforts to realize its commitment to be a neutral carbon – company. In 2023, the company operated biogas power plant in palm oil liquid – base to minimize emission from the waste to supply power for its kernel crushing plants, and take advantages on renewable energy. The company consistently escalate the cover of high carbon stock and high conservation value areas. (P2)
