Kotabaru Police Identify Suspects in Bangkalaan Melayu Plantation Damage

PALMOILMAGAZINE, KOTABARU – The Kotabaru Police, part of the South Kalimantan Police Department, received a report on 6 July 2024 regarding damage to palm oil plantations belonging to PT. SMART Tbk in Block G74, Bangkalaan Melayu Village, Hulu Subdistrict, Kotabaru Regency.

The report was filed by Aptiadi, a retired army officer residing in Lingkar Marampesu, Bori Bellaya Village, Turikale Subdistrict, Maros Regency. Two suspects, identified as SP (22) from CV. Adi Jaya and MP (50) from Kandangan, both residents of Bangkalaan Melayu Village, were involved in the plantation damage.

The incident occurred on 5 July 2024 around 11:30 AM, where the suspects utilized a yellow Excavator XCMG PC 135. Their actions resulted in the destruction of seven palm oil trees, causing estimated losses amounting to Rp. 20,790,000.

As Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from the official page of Indonesian Police Public Relation, Khairun Hamami, Assistant Manager Division II from Pekanbaru, and Wagiso, the foreman in Palm Oil Plantation Sungai Cantung PT. SMART Tbk., witnessed the damage. The evidences were secured, for instance, yellow Excavator XCMG PC 135, the key of the excavator, and one cut of palm oil tree.

Kotabaru Police Chief, AKBP Doli M Tanjung, S.I.K., through Kelumpang Hulu Police Chief, IPDA Agus Setiawan said that the case would be investigated.

“The two suspects have been arrested and would be charged by Chapter 406 Criminal Code, about damage,” Agus said. (T2)
