PALMOILMAGAZINE, MERAUKE — PT Bio Inti Agrindo (PT BIA) recently announced the successful hosting of the third Public Consultation for the Environmental Conservation and Community Development Program (ECCDP), held at the Swiss-Belhotel in Merauke. This event is part of the Bian Lake Wildlife Reserve Project (Bian Project), which reflects PT BIA’s commitment to environmental preservation and community empowerment in the Merauke region.
The event was conducted in strategic partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) Papua and the Merauke Regional Government. The goal of this Public Consultation was to strengthen synergy among various stakeholders in efforts to preserve the Bian Lake Wildlife Reserve and support sustainable community development.
The consultation brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including regional government officials, BBKSDA representatives, environmental organizations, local NGOs, academics from Musamus University and Cenderawasih University, palm oil companies operating in the area, local communities, suppliers, buyers, managers of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMK), as well as the directors and staff of PT BIA, totaling 95 participants.

The Merauke Regional Government reaffirmed its support for this initiative. Justina Sianturi, Assistant 1 of the Merauke Regency Secretariat, representing the Regent of Merauke, expressed her appreciation to PT BIA for its active contribution to sustainable development in the region.
PT BIA’s President Director, Kim Won Il, emphasized that this collaboration aims to ensure that the natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural heritage of the Merauke region can be enjoyed by future generations. “We are also continuously striving to promote economic independence by supporting the surrounding villages. Our hope is that the strong cooperation between the government, the community, and the private sector will continue,” said Kim Won Il in an official statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com on Monday, September 2, 2024.
At the same event, Yulius Palita, Head of the Technical Division of BBKSDA Papua, representing the Head of BBKSDA Papua, stated that community participation in conservation programs has become more active, with communities no longer just as objects but as subjects directly involved in management.
This third public consultation marks an important step forward in realizing PT BIA’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices and community development in Merauke, while also strengthening the strategic partnership with BBKSDA Papua and the Merauke Regional Government. (P3)
