PALMOILMAGAZINE, NANGA BULIK – The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, through the Plantation Protection and Seed Supervision Agency (BP3B) under the Provincial Plantation Office, carried out palm oil seed certification in Guci Village, Bulik District, Lamandau Regency, in mid-February 2025.

The certification process was conducted by Plant Seed Inspectors (PBT) from BP3B in collaboration with palm oil breeders from the Palm Oil Research Center (PPKS) Medan. During the inspection, 41,168 palm oil seedlings owned by PT. Menthobi Agro Raya in Guci Village were certified as ready for planting.

Additionally, certification was also carried out for palm oil sprouts belonging to PT. Gunung Sejahtera Ibu Pertiwi, located in Pandu Senjaya Village, Pangkalan Lada District, West Kotawaringin Regency. A total of 237,970 sprouts from D x P Simalungun, D x P AAL Nirmala, D x P AAL Lestari, and D x P AAL Sejahtera varieties successfully passed the certification process.

David Hariyanto, Head of BP3B, explained that palm oil seed certification aims to ensure seed quality, protect consumers, and enhance palm oil production. “This is crucial because seedlings are the foundation and key factor in the success of plantation businesses,” he stated, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from MMC Kalteng on Tuesday (25/2/2025).

David further emphasized that the certification process also helps prevent abnormalities, curb the circulation of counterfeit seeds, and maintain seed quality standards. With this certification, farmers and plantation companies in Central Kalimantan are expected to access high-quality seeds, ultimately boosting productivity and improving the welfare of plantation communities in the region.
